Assistant Product Manager- Seed " Gilroy, CA - 1630

Role Purpose "

Assist the Product Managers in managing the operational aspects of the crop portfolio, with emphasis on supporting the critical areas of :
- Assortment management : master data management and PLC administration in PMD/Pivotal databases
- Product line sales and profitability analysis
- S&OP : Forecast preparation and tracking
- Marketing communications : Support preparation of catalogs, sell sheets, tech information and ads
- Marketing events : Trade Shows, Open Houses, Pack Trials
- Product Trial coordination : Pack Trials, Internal and External Pre-Commercial Trials
- Sales support and Training


Accountabilities "

• Assortment Management
o Manage and maintain regional product data in PMD, including commercial PLCs and product marketing information
o Work with R&D to ensure proper product master data is captured for stage 5 " 6.1 varieties to meet market needs
o Act as primary contact for product information with the global product data coordinators who will ensure accuracy and alignment of product data in commercial operating systems
o Assist in annual product line and portfolio review
o Assist in development of annual new variety overviews and other key product campaigns
• Sales and Profitability Analysis / Product Business Planning
o Track weekly/monthly product sales and margin data
o Assist in product line sales and margin reporting and analysis
o Assist in preparation of crop business plans
o Market data retrieval, review and analysis (NGB)
o Help track special pricing/freight that is offered by sales team (cuttings)
• Sales and Operational Planning (S&OP) and Forecasting Support
o Initial forecast preparations including assortment review and retrieval and updating of historical sales data
o Assist in preparation of series forecasts and further prepare color and product form forecast breakdowns based on finalized crop/series forecasts.
o Prepare standardized forecast and assumption files for montly NSOP and GSOP meetings. Maintain up to date forecast files and history on central SharePoints
o Track sales weekly/monthly sales data and compare to forecast
o Monitor availablility, as needed, and suggest increases/reductions where possible (Mum product line)
• Marketing Communications Support
o Act as first line support to Marketing Communications department for product specific information
o Supply necessary product and assortment information to Marketing Communications department to aid in preparation of catalogs, pricelists, product brochures and other selling tools..
o Assist in identifying product photography needs
• Marketing Events
o Act as main product management contact for trade shows, open houses, pack trials and other important marketing events.
o Work together with marketing communications, Trial Coordindators and Tech Services to schedule and source plant material for marketing events and trade shows
o Assist in set up of marketing events, as needed, and ensure products are represented accurately and according to agreed upon positioning
o Represent Syngenta Flowers at national and regional sales events, as needed
• Commercial Trials Coordination (in cooperation with Trials Coordinator)
o Act as main product management contact for Trials Coordinator in planning Annual Pack Trial Event
o Review and supply input for University trial programs
o Schedule and coordinate sampling programs
o Monitor, coordinate and provide follow up on commercial grower trials organized with GAMs and TSRs
o Coordinate PPS trials with Technical Specialists
o Evaluate, record, summarize and publish trial results
• PreCommercial Trials Coordination
o Assist product managers and breeding department in coordinating internal precommercial trials
o Assist product managers and breeders in organizing precommercial trials with GAMs and TSRs at external growers. Coordinate logistics to ensure timely initiation and evaluation of trials
o Assist in evaluation and record and summarize trial results. Provide input to product managers to aid in decisions on commercialization of experimental products.
o Ensure that trial results and conclusions are documented in appropriate systems/databases " PMD / Pivotal

• Education" BS Horticulture or Science preferred, with industry understanding
