Greenhouse Production Manager

Well respected Nursery in Hudson, NY, looking for a motivated, experienced individual to manage and oversee greenhouse production.
Job Details Include:
Improving propagation practices by keeping detailed records to track crops and propagation methods and IPM. Handling chemicals, such as pesticides or fertilizers and follow safety guidelines such as wearing the appropriate protective gear. Manage daily maintenance and health of all nursery plant material in greenhouses, fields, and retail sales space. Analyze plant health and determine the best measures to remedy problems. Keeping equipment and gardening tools clean and care for them to keep them in good condition.
Responsible for coordinating with Nursery Manager To keep plants, fertilizers, pest management and propagation materials stocked as needed. Assess irrigation is working properly and report any issues. Production scheduling and future crop planning.
Physical ability to lift plants and materials and perform other basic nursery tasks including transplanting plants/trees/shrubs into larger containers, bending over, digging, pulling, pushing, stooping and standing for long periods of time in various weather conditions.
Work one (1) weekend day per week in retail sales and work as retail backup when needed which may include: Unloading shipments of ready to sell plants, bagged soils or mulch, and other gardening products, labelling items with price tags and keeping the landscape around the nursery well-maintained.
Show leadership and professional commitment to production goals and customer service. Educate nursery staff in accomplishing all the above responsibilities as well as supervising the work ofunskilledand skilled employees in amannerto promote high morale and excellent performance - must alsowork wellwithmanagers andemployeesinotherdepartments.
Hours: 5 days/week - including one weekend day. Pay rate to be discussed following interview.
